Pakistan Election 2024: CEC Demands No Load Shedding 7 to 9 February

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja penned a letter to Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, advocating for an uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming 2024 elections. Recognizing the pivotal role of continuous electricity in the election process, CEC Sultan Raja urged PM Kakar to direct the relevant authorities to ensure seamless power availability from February 7 to 9.

The potential disruption of electricity during the crucial election night could impede the timely compilation of results, underscoring the importance of a steady power supply. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq has taken proactive measures to guarantee the smooth conduct of the impending general elections by forming a dedicated seven-member committee.

Chaired by Minister of Communications Maritime Affairs and Railways Shahid Ashraf Tarar, this newly constituted committee includes chief secretaries from all four provinces. Their primary responsibility is to oversee the general elections, assess the requirements for their successful execution, and make immediate decisions to enhance security and maintain law and order.

With the polling day for the National Assembly and provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan set for February 08, Pakistan is gearing up for a significant political event. The Election Commission of Pakistan, announcing the election schedule on December 15, highlighted that the election will be conducted for 336 seats in the lower house.

A political party securing at least 169 seats will be eligible to form the next government in the country. As the nation anticipates this critical electoral process, the commitment to an uninterrupted power supply emerges as a crucial factor in ensuring the transparency and efficiency of the democratic exercise.
