Karachi, Sindh Schools Get New Start Date for Academic Year 2024-25 (Updated)

In a strategic move prompted by the recent decision of the Steering Committee, the Sindh Education Department has officially announced a rescheduled academic year, impacting the commencement date and subsequently shifting the traditional academic calendar.

As indicated by the official notification released by the Education Department of Sindh, the upcoming academic year for 2024-25 now slated to begin on August 1. This adjustment deviates from the norm, where academic years typically kick off in April.

The Steering Committee, responsible for finalizing this crucial decision, made the announcement last month, citing reasons such as the delayed initiation of textbook printing as a significant factor contributing to the postponement.

Sources had hinted at the likelihood of a delay, shedding light on the ongoing delay in the textbook printing process. In response to this, a meeting of the Sindh Education Department’s Steering Committee convened to address the issue comprehensively.

Insiders suggest that the committee’s decision, outlined in the official notification, not only validates the delay but also sets the stage for a revised academic calendar with a new starting point in August.

Trouble surfaced between the Publisher and the Education Department, causing a rift that further hindered the timely printing of textbooks. This internal conflict reported to be a crucial factor behind the delay, impacting the entire academic schedule.

In light of these developments, the Sindh Education Department emphasized that a minimum of four months is essential for the printing and delivery of the textbooks, underscoring the need for this adjustment in the academic calendar.
