MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings captain, is ready for a new season of the Indian Premier League. Being the defending champions, focus will be on Chennai Super Kings when it faces Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match of the IPL 2024. Attention will also be on MS Dhoni, who will be playing his first cricket match since the IPL 2023 final.  While many speculated that MS Dhoni was going to retire after the IPL 2023, he announced after CSK’s final win that he will continue to play for the love he has been showered with.

After the IPL 2023, MS Dhoni underwent a knee surgery. Recently, videos of his training for the IPL 2024 went viral. On Monday, MS Dhoni had an interesting update on his Facebook account. “Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!” he wrote. The post started speculation on whether MS Dhoni will be coaching or not.

MS Dhoni has now clarified on what he meant by his post. “New season, double role!” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday. The post was actually a promotion for the IPL.

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni landed in Chennai on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season. The defending champions posted a picture of Dhoni, who led them to their fifth title last season, exiting a vehicle on social media, captioning it “#THA7A Dharisanam!” Speculation is rife that this season will be Dhoni’s final one as a player. Last year, the 42-year-old mostly came out to bat towards the fag end of CSK innings. CSK began their pre-season training camp on Saturday with the first batch of CSK players landing here a day before.

CSK will open their IPL 2024 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22.

Barely two weeks before the start of the IPL, the enigmatic MS Dhoni sent speculation into overdrive by claiming that a “new role” awaits him in the “new season” in a viral social media post on Monday.
