Ex-Mumbai Indians All-Rounder Fabian Allen Attacked, Robbed At Gunpoint

    The Playoffs stage of the ongoing SA20 League has begun and four teams, out of six, have made their way into the knockouts. Durban Super Giants and Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be squaring off against each in the Qualifier 1 match on Tuesday while Paarl Royals and Joburg Super Kings will be facing each other in the Eliminator on Wednesday. However, on the eve of the first Playoff game, a shocking incident came to light which raised concerns over the security of the players in the South African league.

    According to the report from Cricbuzz, West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen was attacked and robbed at gunpoint outside the Paarl Royals team hotel in Johannesburg.

    it was also stated that the 28-year-old all-rounder was attacked by the assailants, armed with a gun, near the renowned Sandton Sun Hotel. Allen’s phone and personal belongings, including a bag were also forcibly taken away.

    “Our head coach Andre Coley, also hailing from Jamaica, reached out to Fabian. Contact was successfully established through Obed McCoy (another West Indies international). He is fine. CSA (Cricket South Africa) and his team, Paarl Royals, could share more details if there are any,” a top CWI official told Cricbuzz.

    The Royals won five matches in the group stage of SA20 2023-24 and finished at third place in the points table.

    Talking about Allen, the Caribbean star has played 20 ODIs and 34 T20I matches and scored 200 and 267 runs, respectively. He also scalped seven wickets in ODIs and 24 wickets in T20Is.
